Pearls every day, and how to keep them
Pearls are softer than any other gem you own. A few habits keep their lustre for a lifetime.
Pearls are made of the same stuff as shells, which means perfume, hairspray and sweat all slowly dull them. The fix is simple: put them on last and take them off first.
Wipe, don't wash
A soft cloth after wearing is all they need. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or steam, and store them flat in a pouch so the silk does not stretch.
Restringing
If you wear a strand often, have it restrung every couple of years. We do ours free for life.
