Why we only use recycled gold
Mining a single wedding ring's worth of new gold moves around 20 tonnes of earth. Recycled gold is the same metal, without the hole in the ground.
Gold does not wear out. Nearly all the gold ever mined is still in circulation, in jewellery drawers, circuit boards and dental work. We buy ours refined from exactly that.
Is recycled gold the same?
Chemically, yes. Once refined it is 99.99% pure, indistinguishable from newly mined metal. We then alloy it ourselves to make 18k yellow, white and rose.
What about stones?
Our diamonds are lab-grown or recut from antique stones, and every coloured stone comes with its mine or dealer of origin written on the certificate.
